Needing a Current Events Hiatus

I'm identifying very closely with Ms. Garbo. "I never said 'I want to be alone,'" She said, "I only said 'I want to be left alone.' There is all the difference."

The high point of my day was the fresh strawberry/ginger/orange/lemon sorbet I made for dessert. And I'm trying to give up sugar for a few weeks.

Oh man, that is a great quote.

And by the way -- the high point of MY day so far is just reading a description of that sorbet.

I don't know how I can still be surprised by the food you seem to be able to come up with, but who the hell makes sorbet? Are you some kind of wizard or sorceress or something?

Thanks! I'm trying to ease myself out of a FULL-BLOWN SUGAR ADDICTION but it's real hard.

Sorbet is pretty easy to make (if you have an ice cream maker - which you totally should).

I pureed fresh strawberries and strained them (to keep the seeds out), juiced some fresh oranges and lemons and grated some ginger into the mix. In the meantime I made some simple syrup, then mixed them all together. After they cooled I put them in the ice cream maker and VOILA - yum yum yum. Sweet and tangy and a little spicy.

Why give up sugar... give up something that is bad for you (like gas huffing). Sugar... mmmm goodness.

I haven't been to Blogger in AGES (uh, since I discovered Facebook I think!) and I'm so excited that I have back entries to read! I am saving them for my next cup of coffee! Hope you're well.
